Procesadora Tropical
Introduction
Procesadora Tropical is an agro-industrial company from Peru, dedicated to the production and processing of plantain, cassava, cocoa, ginger, and malanga.
They have 200 hectares of production fields in the town of Aucayacu in the Huánuco region, and a processing plant in Aguaytia in the Ucayali region. To supply the processing part of the operation, Procesadora Tropical also sources the crops from approximately 240 farmers from an additional 1200 hectares.
Challenge
Considering that Procesadora Tropical has its own production but also farmers with whom they cooperate, they faced a challenge due to different sources of information. All the operations were managed through Excel spreadsheets, so it was difficult to consolidate all the data and make yield predictions since they didn’t have information in real-time.
They realized they needed a single platform that allows centralized access to data, the standardization of agricultural operations, and the general analysis of their own fields and those of the associated farmers.
After evaluating several global farm management solutions, and with the help of our local partners BCTS Consulting, they decided that AGRIVI was the best option for them.

Results
AGRIVI provided Procesadora Tropical with a centralized platform where they manage multiple farms, their own and those of the cooperants.
In managing their own production, the focus is on budgeting, i.e., planning of season in terms of usage and costs per crop and area, and registering daily activities to track the production costs.
In managing farmers in cooperation, the focus is on registering their activities and tracking crop health during the vegetation and weather conditions to advise them what are the best practices to preserve the crop yield and therefore ensure the agreed quantities to be delivered. Also, the emphasis is on harvest planning per farmer on a weekly basis for efficient transport organization based on the capacity of the processing facility.
By having the possibility of managing the production of the farmers with whom it cooperates, Procesadora Tropical wants to add value to the producers by sharing the best cultivation practices, thus achieving an efficient, reliable, and profitable supply chain.
